Adobe, American Express, Apple, Hallmark, IBM, Mayo Clinic, Microsoft, Nintendo, QVC, Sony, United Airlines, UPS and Wells Fargo Bank He is now President of the AIGA, which was founded in 1914 and is the oldest and largest membership association for professionals engaged in the discipline, practice and culture of designing.

Image Magic applies a modified version of mentor Clement Mok's DADI design procedure to most design challenges and finds it is especially effective in the interactive environment of the Internet.

1. NEEDS ANALYSIS & STRATEGY:
The "definition" phase of the process can be a matter of days or weeks and include the following:
  • Become familiar with the client, their market, and their mission.
  • Determine the site objectives and clarify goals.
  • Define the competition.
  • Select and outline the content.
  • Specify desirable features.
  • Identify the target market(s).
  • Explore pertinent technologies.
  • Chart the timeline.
  • Negotiate the budget.

At this phase, a sign-off on goals, audience, content, timeline, responsibility, and a budget is required before moving on the the next phase of the design process.

CLIENT INVESTMENT: 50% plus domain acquisition fees if applicable.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE:

The "architecture" phase changes the concepts into reality in terms of relevance, priority, structure, and medium.
  • Review and identify the key messages and elements surfacing during the definition/creative strategy phase.
  • Categorize information types.
  • Define logical relationships, navigation, and GUI organization.
  • Establish primary links between information.
  • Beta test linking.
  • Determine technologies necessary to develop the project.

At this phase, a sign-off on navigation and content organization, and linking is required before moving on the the next phase of the design process.

3. LOOK & FEEL:

The "design" phase gives personality to the strategy and structure of the site changing a 2-dimensional plan into the 4-dimensional experience of a themed environment.
  • Choose a visual metaphor and GUI.
  • Prepare a custom color palette.
  • Select Fonts for use in GIFs and JPGs.
  • Select the optimum screen size for the target market.
  • Title sections and features.
  • Design navigational elements, site-specific icons, and other visual cues.
  • Prepare layouts for key pages.
  • Begin content development.
  • Organize technologies methodology.
  • Search Engine Optimization.

At this phase, a sign-off on theme, color, fonts, and key page layouts is required before moving on the the next phase of the design process.

4. DEVELOPMENT & PRODUCTION:

The "implementation" phase brings to life the perceiving components into a functioning WWW entity.
  • Implement the multimedia or database components of the site.
  • Beta testing across multiple platforms and browsers.
  • Proofreading.
  • Publish live pages for review.

At this phase, the site is essentially complete, the balance is due upon approval of the beta-test site, and then the website is published to the WWW.

CLIENT INVESTMENT: 20% plus annual hosting fees if applicable.
